FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where can I find a list of gardens that will be opening?
Please refer to the list of gardens on the copy of the programme on The Gardens page on this website.
There are Open Gardens boards around the village advertising the event. Do the positions of these boards relate to gardens that will be opening?
No - the boards are positioned strategically around the village for maximum visibility, and therefore do not relate to the gardens opening. Please refer to the list of gardens on the copy of the programme on The Gardens page on this website - all these gardens will have balloons outside on the day.
Which garden do I need to start at?
You can start your garden route, and pay, at any of the gardens. When you pay you will be given a paper copy of the programme and map, which will be stamped to show you have paid - show this at each subsequent garden to gain entry.
How much does it cost?
£6 per person (free for 14 years and under). This covers entry to all the gardens. You pay at the first garden you visit, where you will be given a stamped programme which includes all garden details and a map. Just show this on entry to subsequent gardens to show you have paid. It would be greatly appreciated if you could bring the exact money.
Can I pay by debit/credit card on the day?
Please bring cash. There is a cashpoint machine outside the Co-op supermarket on the High Street.
Where can I park?
There is no parking provided at any of the gardens. There are public car parks in Trinity Road (BN6 9SJ) and Brown Twins Road (BN6 9XT) in the centre of the village (parking is free, no payment/disc required on a Sunday). If the car parks are full, there is alternative street parking in the vicinity.
Will there be transport between the gardens?
Thank you to Freeman Brothers for providing a limo and to ‘Cycling Without Age’ for providing their trishaw which will be available to provide transport between the gardens throughout the event. We ask for a minimum donation of £1 which covers as many journeys as you like. To catch the limo look out for the “Limo stops here” signs. The trishaw can be hailed when free.
Are any of the gardens accessible for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately this year none of the gardens have wheelchair access. However, tea and cake at the Hurst Bowls Club is wheelchair accessible.
Can I bring my dog?
Some of the gardens will accept well-behaved dogs on leads. Please look for the dog symbol on the programme (see The Gardens page).
Which gardens will be serving refreshments?
Please see The Gardens page for details.
Which gardens will have things for sale, and what will they be selling?
This year we will have plant, raffle and Hurst Hedgehog Haven stalls. Please refer to The Gardens page for full details. Please remember to bring your own bags for any purchases.
Will there be toilets available?
There are two public toilets in the village which are indicated on the map on the programme.
